Then there should be no problems going to him and owning the fact the saw broke down while in your possession.

    Oil hose line Echo 351

Welcome. I will put my hand up and say Echo's are NOT my forte and I can count on one hand the number of them I have worked on, so take the following with a grain of salt! There is a brass or plastic fitting in the wall of the oil tank? Section of flexi hose above goes to the oil pump, one...

saw not drawing fuel from tank - where to look next?

Welcome along. These wee Mac's are not something I am very familiar with, but as far as I know at least some of the 3500 (if not most) models had purge valves and it may be that the lines are incorrectly installed to it, connected in the wrong order. This gap of less that 1mm that was repaired...

Sorry, not in my list of ethics. It could be a lot of things- from simple to serious. I work on the theory of- you borrow, you break, you bought it. Take the saw to your boss, explain the predicament and offer to take it to the servicing centre of his choice and pay for the repairs.

Well, not sure about anyone else here- but seeing as how the saw had been borrowed, it isnt really yours to try and fix. You need to take it back to the owner, explain what has happened and when they cool off a bit, let them decide who is going to fix it.

    Missing Dawgs?

Dawgs, Dogs, Spikes- whatever you want to call them are not entirely necessary on all saws, almost cosmetic on some, but on bigger saws (especially the saw in question here) are very handy to have fitted. The Jonsered 2094 I recently posted about, arrived with neither internal or external spikes...

    Jonsered 2094

    Jonsered 2094

A few weeks back, I managed to locate a 2094 that was up for sale at the Northern most province of our wee Island nation and I live at near the Southern most part of the lower Island. Owner agreed to sell, but refused to ship. Lots of trying to pull in favours from other third party persons I...

    No adequate spark

The ignition timing is regulated by the key and keyway. Business card to set the air gap between coil and flywheel magnets should be near enough to good.

    Help decide chainsaw ?

Of course you do! Everyone NEEDS an 044/440, some people just realise the need earlier than others. :D

    Help decide chainsaw ?

Welcome along. Not much traffic here- so maybe the advice will be a bit slim, but don't discount Echo in your possibles list. They have some really good saws to fit your niche, as do Dolmar/Makita- but their production of gas powered saws is about to cease. I am not real familiar with 4##...

fuel supply problems - and fuel line confusion

Could be someone has owned the saw previously. had problems with it and replaced with parts from an older similar model (pre purge valve). I would imagine a 3500 to have one and the two port carb to support it. An ideal set of circumstances would be, you would find another one someone had...

fuel supply problems - and fuel line confusion

Watch this- its on a 3200 but should be similar I think. It shows where the lines should go in relation to carb, tank and purge valve (which I suggest you add seeing as how the saw has provisions, but it is missing) a DANG sight easier than I can type it all out and still leave you confused...

    No adequate spark

Rubbing the coil as it rotates at 12,00 RPM can do funny things to flywheel magnets. Okay, so we can discount the flywheel perhaps- is the key and key still in good condition? Sure the flywheel has not shorn off the key and moved position relevant to the coil? I do not know the difference...

    No adequate spark

Joe fitzpatrick Today at 5:50 AM The coils were aftermarket, but 3 bad ones seems a little unlikely! The magnets in the flywheel will attract a screw driver. How would I tell whether they’re too weak or not? I did take it to a repair shop and they told me what I already knew.No spark! They...

    No adequate spark

Were the replacement coils known to be good coils? Were they genuine Echo or aftermarket? How are the magnets in the flywheel? What have you used to set the coil to flywheel air gap? I have to admit to not being familiar at all with Echo's either current or past- have had some EViL...

    281XP?

Yep- they are awesome- but no more thin rings or pistons sitting on dealer shelves now and you do not want to "update" one of these with a modern single thick ring piston, unless you have good health insurance. o_O I am thinking the 266 is certainly leaking at o-rings and/or seals- because...
