Job well done and a buddy worth keeping! :)

    Worth trying to fix?

You wont be the first this has happened to, wont be the last. Either with fuel mixed by others, or a fuel mixing mistake ourselves. Photos will tell a truer story of just how good or bad things are, but you are going to need to pull the cylinder and inspect the interior of the bore for...

    Stihl 034 rebuild

Was mainly suggested as it is easier to find better quality aftermarket top ends for the 036/360 than for the 034. Has the added bonus of a wee bit more power, but not bucket loads.

    JOE Barney

It is free firewood related- put the pinned cushion on his chair, when he goes to sit down he will jump up off his ass and be able to go get his own firewood.

Send him a cushion loaded with sewing pins then.

    Stihl 034 rebuild

I think my 024 Super is the last West German before the Wall came down saw I have left! Start another thread on here, there are plenty of members on here that can build your saw back to what it was easily, if you are not keen on doing the job yourself. Or they could build it back better (360...

    Stihl 034 rebuild

You broke the cardinal rule- Thou shalt not run fuel mix prepared by others in thy saw. Odds are very good, that is what killed the piston and rings. Seafoam or no seafoam makes not a lot of difference- oil to fuel ratio does and the fact your saw was not tuned to run on his mix. You still need...

    Stihl 034 rebuild

Unless you own the tooling to pressure and vacuum test the saw, your options are narrowed down to thorough inspection and replace anything suspect, replace the main crank seals as a matter of course. You will pull the cylinder and ascertain if it is damaged as well as the piston, or if there is...

    Could chainsaws be safer?

But that is not a story about dangerous chainsaws- that is a misjudgement of the human using the saw and I am willing to bet we have all had those at one time or another.

    No start chainsaw!...HELP!!!

The flywheel has a key cast into the interior of the hole that slides on to the crank taper- this key lines up with a slot (keyway) milled into the crank and assures the flywheel is in correct position to assure correct timing of the spark in relation to the cranks rotation. If the saw had not...

    272XP or 272K?

I was not sure, I know there were a heap of other reasons for not trying to convert a K to an XP- like retarded coil, governed carb, no chain adjuster, oil delivery in case half, crank not machined for oil pump....... But thought I had read somewhere the cylinders might also be different, or at...

    272XP or 272K?

Any way to confirm 272 cylinders as either XP or K via the numbers?

    No start chainsaw!...HELP!!!

What was it doing when it stopped? My first thought would be a sheared key on the flywheel, creating incorrect timing. Pulls over easy without the plug, but hard as heck with the plug in, suggests the spark is not occurring at the correct time. Only way to confirm is remove the flywheel and...

    McCulloch pro mac 650 chain?

If it is overdue a new chain- odds are pretty good it might need a new drive sprocket and the bar dressed up and deburred a little. Worn bar and sprocket can lessen the life of a new chain, sometimes very quickly.

    Husqvarna e345 wits end

!: Incorrect bar tail fitment- oil hole not lining up with oil delivery. 2: Parts missing like the bar plate on the inside of the clutch cover. 3: Over tensioned bar studs pulling from the oil tank and raising the bar mount platform.

    McCulloch pro mac 650 chain?

The easiest way for you to get it correct is to take the chain to a saw shop, bang it down on the counter and say I want a new one of these please- and let them do the hard work. Next easiest is for you to count the drive links on the chain you have ( the spurs that contact the drive sprocket on...

    STIHL 044 muscle-saw

I know a few odd types that slacken the chains off on their shelf ponies.

    Husky 450 x-torq

You need three things for a saw to run properly, good spark, correct air/fuel mix and compression. My first stop would be a new plug- possible the plug is loosing spark delivery when warmed up and returns to normal when cooled. If not the plug, then it gets more expensive and the coil is on the...

My saw don't run good- can you have a look.

Yeah, if you read back through all the irrelevant stuff on this thread, that you yourself were part of, you will read somewhere that I use a similar system to your non oven routine using scrapes, kerosene and compressed air. However I do not recommend using air to blow off kerosene (or camp fuel...
