    Chainsaw cutting out

Sorry, like I said I am not familiar with the model and how it is assembled.

No there should not be a pressure difference between atmospheric and tank internals- so you might also have a blocked/damaged tank vent.

    Chainsaw cutting out

Not familiar with the brand- but sounds like an air leak issue. Pressure and vacuum test to check for leaks arond the engine pan bolting up to the cylinder and main crank seal regions- not sure if it runs a separate impulse line- but that will need checking as well.

    Echo CS 3400

About the only ones that work really well and read true for small engines is the snap-on one and you know how much they cost. Not economic for a one off repair. First you need to get into it enough to see the piston, if it is all scored up- may not be worth the hassle- if it is not, then...

    Echo CS 3400

Compression readings only count if they are taken with a tester specifically designed for small engines. No way in heck it will run on 75-80 IF that is the true reading. Absolute minimum of 90 psi required to "run" but most require a minimum around 120-125 psi- especially small capacity 2 stroke...

    Echo CS 3400

Top handle or rear handle variant? First thing to do is remove the muffler and look through the exhaust port to see if the piston is all scored up. Very likely a massive air leak from a loose engine pan of the clamshell or failed crank main oil seal/seals. If the piston is well scored- you...

    engine stops when hot

Likely High undie branded- not made by them- bit like the Hitachi branded petrol saws we used to get here.

    81cc Husqvarna

Odd thing, its the starter side bottom AV area that was busted out- not the more usual weaker clutch side. Only see it from underneath when the starter is on- but the front bottom where the 4th starter fixing goes is also busted off- so 3 screw starter cover now.

    81cc Husqvarna

Doubt the oil pump has been out since first put in there. Failed pressure test, new seals time.

    81cc Husqvarna

Latest one to join the fold- not exactly sure if 181 or 281- not an XP possibly, but there you go. Might have been made out of a box of parts at some stage, starter side of case has been busted off- bottom AV mount towards rear handle and welded back on- but was done nicely. Has vivid pen 281 on...

    Stihl 028's

They seem to have that ability of being a hard kill. Many 028's survive some hard use and some even go as far as suffering abuse- but they keep going.

    Some Husqvarna's

I bought a complete running 81 or 88 Husqvarna from the Kapiti Coast last week for a hundy- they are still out there. ;) 066 are 54mm too but takes a lot more to make a same piston than just the outside diameter

    Some Husqvarna's

Yeah, that 930 belongs to a guy that is not too chatty! Its something you buy to have an example of- not to run much here- when did you ever see another one? Parts are pretty specific and like Unicorn horns and rocking horse poop to find here. They do not have the weak rubber mount on the rear...

    Some Husqvarna's

That's a nice selection of orange Swede's- covers a LOT of options. But, why does one man need 3 266's? I only have 2! :ROFLMAO:

    Old points ignition troubleshooting..

I have half a dozen tanks and case sets/bottom ends for 064's- my problem is finding good top ends for them in our part of the World. Have one running a Meteor top end and its nice- just not as nice as the OEM ones. In my opinion- the old alloy air box flat filter is a bit of a let down-...

    Old points ignition troubleshooting..

No pictures- no proof! We dont believe ya! :ROFLMAO: They are not the most fun saws to play with. The 064 is a really good plan though- very good saw those.

Same but Not- 61 and 625

Another couple of recent bench visitors- same saw kind of. Grey/Black top Husqvarna 61 and Jonsered 625. For all intending purposes the same saws with some slight but serious differences between the two, meaning parts interchangeability is by no means 100%.

    Stihl 028's

So does anyone else run these old dears still? They are kind of bullet proof- just "interesting" in their design regarding the like of clutch removal. Not awe inspiring, but dependable- bit like a Blue Flame engine? The Super came in a bunch of saws I collectively gathered with the help of...
