    Help needed pm270 restoration

A lot of the older Huskies and J'reds use the same crank seal.....the one available now is just 1mm thicker, they work fine. The ID and the OD are the same. Have you tried a bearing house? Kevin

    Cylinder Base Sealants

Sounds like maybe the older version is better with the chem it had.....if you can get that one there, jump on it! Kevin

    Good Morning, Afternoon, & Evening

I used to run about three thousand head of sheep on a farm in MO. Lambing was a 45 day continuous nightmare that was 24/7. I had to sleep in the barns with the sheep most nights. On a 'good' night you could have 30 ewes lamb in one hr. Hard to imagine unless you've actually done it. My...

    Good Morning, Afternoon, & Evening

Exciting....relatively new chainsaw forum....how cool is that?! Keep it friendly and informative and it won't fall into the insulting 'pit' that so many other forums have become today. Kevin

    Cylinder Base Sealants

My educated guess is that there is a lot of sealant material there for the gas mix to denigrate and get access to. Probably such a slow process that it's not a consideration with the folks that use modern sealants and delete the base gasket. Kevin

    Cylinder Base Sealants

I have a tube of 1184, but never used it for anything. Like I said, I've never done a base gasket delete. What I will tell you is that I was putting compressed air into a Husky 2100 oil tank and POP went the tank! What I had stupidly managed to do was split the tank halves seam. I went...

    Cylinder Base Sealants

"permatex aviation form-a-gasket 3" I used this stuff WAY back on military vehicles with respect to gas contact....because it was so hard to get real gaskets and I hadn't learned yet how to make my own gaskets. And then when I did learn, I used this stuff to dress the gasket lightly. I tired...

    Saw Break-In

I'm very interested in that saw. They dribbled a few out and then nothing. I haven't tried again recently. How do you like it so far? Tunable carb, metal recoil assembly, heavy cases.....sound like a dream come true in a new saw for me.;) Kevin

    Saw Break-In

Back in the day, the Swede engineers told us to run-in the pro saws like you own 'em.....in other words, use them like you intend to make money with them. Kevin

    Jonsered Chainsaw Thread

Depends who you talk to.....some like the 930 Super best for the series, some like the free revving of the 910 best. I know a couple of old loggers like myself that had all three and favored the 910 best. When you see the promotional pictures of 'Denny', the PNW logger in the vintage Jonsereds...

Actually, I just took them today. But you're recognizing three of the saws from an old avatar pic.....lol. And you've seen the 2094 by its lonesome probably. Kevin

    Chainsaw Collections

Here's are pics of my working saws. Because they are 'older', like me, I will usually take them all on a contract job. I usually only ever use two of them on a job.....but ya never know with old stuff. I have this many saws without bars....duplicates except for the 2094. Then I have 910's in...

To plug or not to plug…

I can't argue with that. Given a lot of the older pro J'reds run over 200psi often, if not using a trick/hack, you can nearly break your fingers. Kevin

To plug or not to plug…

Yes, it's certainly subjective. Having not started out with decomps, they don't excite me. Like you, except for the J'reds 90 I mentioned(and why), I leave them unless they are causing trouble. Do I use them...nah. Kevin

    Jonsereds 9xx series

Ahhhh.....I do have parts, but trying to get two 910's running and still have some parts support. I know that if these parts leave the property, they'll be very hard or impossible to find. Sorry.... The trigger handle as you probably know, has AV's that historically rip out very easily if you...

    Chainsaw Collections

Yep, killer saw in large scale timber. I used it as a logger in the PNW and CO. Probably bought a dozen of them new all told. When runnin' long bars all we did was modify the muffler, plug the gov and hang on. However, parts have gotten so incredibly expensive and rare when you can find them...

    Chainsaw Collections

Kensie sold me a really nice 2094 some yrs back with a full-wrap. On another forum, I did a comparison of that 2094 against one of my venerable Husky 2100's. The test was in Sugar Maple and large diameter 100yr old stuff...been down about a yr. Both saw were fitted with 36" bars and Oregon...

To plug or not to plug…

I started out with no decomps on large cc saws. I don't see it as an issue, though it's a nice convenience. On my J'reds 90, the way I carry the saw running, my cotton gloved hand(knuckles) hit the decomp while walking through the woods. I plugged it. I would be wary of saws with plastic...
