Way I see it, all fair in love and war, plus with the login numbers per day on here, I see you making an honest $200-$250 per annum from this little venture.
Of the two- it would be Echo for me as well- not a whole lot between them bar the price by the looks.
But, I wonder what around $400 might snag you in the good used Husqvarna 2 series pro saws around the 60cc range? In my opinion- a nicer platform than any 036.
Some Tach's do not work or give a true reading on the newer electronic controlled mtronic, autotune type saws.
All I am saying is, if the saw will not respond to carb tune adjusting and you cannot hear/see/feel a difference when you are turning the screws- odds are pretty good you have some...
Is that when you tune on the workbench- or with the chain in wood and cutting? Think these are meant to be tuned in the cut.
But I would still be suspecting the coil- can you post a video of the saw running?
How long does a Farmertec bar last? Well in my experience- you are going to get two kinds of answers regarding anything Farmertec- those that have bought them because of the price and will sing their praises regardless of the fact they have hardly seen enough use to fill a couple of pickup beds...
Never owned one- but A: you are sure there is no H adjustment screw? and B: did Dolmar and Makita not have some problems with coil not advancing?
If your saw is running like half to 3/4 of what it used to be at full throttle, I would be suspecting the coil and it not advancing.

If you are trying to match OEM halves- make sure you know if you...
Cark greenish?
So a UV faded grey/black top? :)
Nice upgrade if the 48mm is pooched- only one I have is a 300 year anniversary model black top and although double coiled- the topend is still in okay condition and will stay that way for a while.
Had intentions of 272ing it...... but found the...
So an old "white top" originally?
Is there enough clearance to reuse the original top cover?
Read some good reviews on that Hyway combination- should make for an interesting saw.
Find an old crapper and build it up then, looks like it is well within your capabilities, doing that will keep you busy from annoying folk that are selling brand new models of old iconic saws because people are looking for new stock of those models.
Then buy yourself a 5** whatever when they...
Quite possible that the good Lord is sending you a message- a subliminal warning that if you get this thing going, this will be only the first of your problems! :p
What happens if you take the clutch cover off and try to fit the bar and chain- then refit the cover and the bar stud nuts?
Photos...
You could try Bob he owns (or owned) Ashokan turf and timber in New York and is a bit of a whizz when it comes to all things Jonsered.
I think Sugar Creek Supplies will "make to order" or at least you can request a specific set and I guess they do a run if there is enough interest?
The clutch...
