    SEM ignition coil gap

No cylinder on it at this stage. It is/was a complete saw when I got it. Dry cracked crankseals, scored piston and wee bit of transfer on cylinder. It feels alot like the resistance you'd get rotating the magnets past the coil but alot more extreme. Fine with flywheel off. I may have to check...

    SEM ignition coil gap

I'm Putting a 480cd back together and seem to have a bit of resistance turning it over by hand with the flywheel on. It's turning freely with it off (no it's not the av buffer screw catching the fins) I was wondering if the SEM ignitions are typically hard to turn past the magnets as that's...

    Yesterdays playtime.

Here's the one I just finished. She definitely has a rugged patina to her, but I've done bearings, seals, a Dukes piston and rings. Only done a few heat cycles so far, but hopefully get it in some wood in the next week

Ah yea that would make sense as there was an 066 top cover in there. Plus what looks like to be most of an 044, some 036 parts and some other bits. I'm glad Stihl are so good at marking/numbering almost all there parts or it would have been a nightmare trying to sort out what I had.

Think mines an earlier one, as the wider plastic badge recoil was too wide to engage the flywheel and has the larger fuel and oil caps.

There was parts from probably 3 064's in the bin of parts I have and may be able scrounge up enough for a second one minus a few bits. But pretty sure there's an extra chain brake linkage if you want it. I'll have a look when I'm next at home. There is a 3rd tank there aswell

That's a funny coincidence. I just finished re building an 064 out of a bin of part's. First start was on Sunday.

    engine stops when hot

Hyundai make chainsaws? I have seen generator's. But that's the first mention of a chainsaw I've heard.

Quite a tidy saw really. That repairs been done nicely. You probably wouldn't really see it with clutch cover on?

    Some Husqvarna's

Yea missed out on what was probably the last of the cheap 288xp's over the last couple of years. Always looking though. Thought perhaps it was a 288xp piston in the 930 as both 54mm. Not interchangeable?

    Some Husqvarna's

i have often asked myself that. But i fear it wont be the last haha. should have put my 630 in there with them. Should be able to add a 576xp and 480cd to that lineup but probably after i build the 064 and possibly an 044. The 576xp needs a piston. cylinder has a small gouge above the exhaust...

    Old points ignition troubleshooting..

It was bad enough admitting I fully rebuilt it 😂. May we never speak of it again lol. Looking at the bits for the 064 they don't look their age design wise, not much different than a modern design. Got a fish bin with a semi complete 064 a second crankcase, a couple of tanks multiple covers and...

    Old points ignition troubleshooting..

It's alive!! Thankfully as I'd way rather be figuring out what I need to build at least 1 064 out of a box of bits I got recently. Now this 015 can go on the shelf of saws that I can say go rather than cast into the graveyard side of the shed. Took a video of it running but it was too large to...

    Old points ignition troubleshooting..

Hey. Sorry got talked into going away while I still had some time off. I Got the ignition sorted, possibly a bit of moisture left over from the brake cleaner, I'm not too sure. Got points set and got it to fire and run off some mix down the carb, was struggling to pull fuel, so have had the carb...

Can the point gap affect spark timing? I'll whip the flywheel back off and check anything timing related.. I'll keep you posted.

    Old points ignition troubleshooting..

Just finished rebuilding an old Stihl 015 (don't ask me why. Bought a couple of parts to begin with and one thing led to another) I checked for spark before tearing it down. Did seals, crank bearings, piston and rings. Passed pressure and vac on engine+ carb and fuel hose. Comp test over...
