Here is a very placid and mild modification to my Jonsered 2159 muffler- hole is slightly larger on the actual muffler face and you can sandwich spark arrestor material between that and the front muffler support bracket- takes me to around 75% of the port size with this and the original outlet...

I have a couple of those on 066's, seem to be okay being gutted internally from the factory and that second "port" in the front cover- might have to try a third exit. ;)

Yes, but you used big saws professionally and know how to start large capacity, high compression saws properly. For those that never learned, or were never shown how to, the decomp is a handy cold start feature that can save busted pawls, broken ropes and be a little friendlier to the fingers on...

If the saw came factory fitted with one, I leave them in until they give trouble (which seldom seems to happen- that cannot be fixed by cleaning out some carbon). Whether I choose to use the feature or not, is another story- some saws require it cold starting, some don't- glad my 2094 has one...

Exactly why I just finished a ground up rebuild of a stock 2100 CD although I own a 2094 already. ;)

Motoseal works just fine, a one in six saw failure rate lends itself more to applicator failure than product failure. Use whatever fuel resistant liquid gasket maker you can find that fits your wallet, easy to find locally, does have a reasonable working time before curing and does not solidify...

Yep, that is also an option, but was thinking if I step away from original- I will probably change the rubber AV mount for a spring one, not unlike the 288XP type. Think the 298 also had a similar spring version. The idea behind the original post was- 2100's are a LOT more common in the States...

You know the story with our dollar versus theirs- double it....... Shipping was up there, but there was more to the order than just the cylinder kit. Bearings for the cranks are standard bearings from most any shop- as long as you get C3 ones and from a reputable maker. Nope, the crank was off...

Yep, I wonder if I cannot fab something up using a spring AV from a 395? 2100's are rare over here- parts rarer. I have the rubber AV version, but the rubber has torn in half.
