Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

I just make some timed cuts, it seems to work well for me.

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

It depends on the design, and where you want your torque in the rpm range. Ideal timing numbers are not copy and paste across various engines especially when it comes to different displacements, at least when the job at hand is cutting wood with common bars, chains, sprockets.

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

I only ever timed one, and not accurately, I just eyeball them. Not sure why I didn't time them. The only one I did time was a recipe I don't often use, but it had a lot of torque. 114, 130, 70 for what it's worth, but some of those numbers could be off by a 2-4 degrees according to my notes.

I might have to ask me too, I just eyeball the 2511. I'd like to get a new electronic degree finder with chuck and holder that @Red97 is selling, so it's easier to time cylinders. I've tried both lowering the exhaust slightly, and raising slightly with good results. Never did much to the intake...

    Chainsaw Dyno?

As a personal rule of thumb, a 2 stroke should easily make .1HP per CC in the common 8-10krpm range if ported well, more is likely possible if ported very well, especially above 10,000rpm. Testing in wood & the dyno would be a good way to confirm results, as I'm sure Joe has done before. That...

    Chainsaw Dyno?

Can I have a copy of my 064 results in this format? I prefer it, more to look at. Just a picture will do if you still have the data to generate it.

    Chainsaw Dyno?

@Red97 Is there a good way of getting the ideal tune for a dyno run by tuning it under some load on the dyno? Personally I wouldn't want any of my saws every revving over 14k at any time unless given permission because crazy high rpm puts a lot of stress on an engine, having to accelerate the...

    Chainsaw Dyno?

On the graph, I think it should be doing all it's cutting in the 10,600-12,600 range ideally, and at over 4 ftlbs of torque it should powerfully sport a 28" bar through hardwood at that RPM. But here's the proof: bouncing between 8400 & 9500, running peak torque in that range (4.9-5ftlb) 8-9hp...

That's an unseen amount of horsepower! I mean I can't even tell how much it has by the rpm. My 064 by Tree Monkey @11,900rpm

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

I compared it to my higher compression 2511t built by someone else, and it seems a little faster

    Muffler mod thread

My first time trying this. It turned out well enough, but aimed closer to the plastic than I thought it would be. Usually I just leave the hole uncovered.

    Need replacement decals for jonsered

I would think a good Jonsered dealer could look up the pert number for the labels (if they have one) and order them.
