    Homelite 33cc NO SPARK

Just disconnect BOTH wires from the coil system and THEN test for spark, preferably with an inline spark tester and by pulling the recoil starter rope- not a drill. Eliminate variables and test as the saw is meant to run. Those two wires do nothing but connect ground from the coil to switch and...

    Homelite 33cc NO SPARK

Exactly- something is wrong- mounting bolts are not it. Flywheel and coil not matched- incorrectly installed- stray earth within the wiring system- bad plug/plugs- incomplete circuits. Something went wrong and it caused you to replace the original coil- subsequent coils also did not work-...

yeah its called heat shrink or liquid insulation. But you dont need either- your coil bolts to the cylinder so it is grounded to it, with standard steel bolts and as it came from the factory. If the coil were bolted to the plastic case (like saw Husqvarna 350 models) there would be a metal...

    McCulloch 10-10A starting problems

Oil has an amazing ability to up compression, oil in the carb pulled through to the combustion chamber will weaken any fuel making it in there. A saw stored dry for a number of years might take some pulling to get fresh fuel all the way through the works. I would at the very least strip the...

That weird little quirk is probably an air leak- they are terminal for pistons and rings- not so kind to cylinders neither.

If that were your problem- the coil would be factory mounted to the plastic case of the saw from original. Part of the system must be live (the contacts to the flywheel face) and part of it earthed to ground (cylinder) or moving the kill switch would have no consequence.

The coil electrode with the bolt through it- almost looks to be contacting the flywheel?

You have the drill motor running in reverse eh?

    Homelite 33cc NO SPARK

I an willing to bet the coils work and everything else works- it is just not working together- due to something either not making a direct contact- or something making a contact that shouldnt be. Inline spark testers are good- no point flogging a dead horse if electrical impulse is not getting...

    Homelite 33cc NO SPARK

Okay- as you say- pretty simple system- so something simple is not working. If you are sure you have the correct parts and that are correctly assembled- try finding another piece of electrical cable-bare the ends of it, wrap it around the threaded section of the plug and attach the other end of...

Put it all together, all wires connected, put the kill switch to RUN and test again. Why was the coil having to be replaced? Are the magnets still good on the flywheel?

The rod goes through the hole I believe and once the unit is assembles it is trapped in place.

If all parts are correct and attached properly- is the earth strap wire with the crimper on eye in place under the top bolt of the new coil and is the other end also attached with no breakages within the system?

I do not currently have any 181 or 180's here for demonstration purposes- but I find if I need to know a parts assembly order or configuration- looking up a model specific IPL is often a huge help. https://www.diyspareparts.com/parts/stihl/diagrams/ms181/b05e9033-14b2-4605-8d68/

    Husqvarna 2100 CD

So there was a waste of several posts on a thread. In the meanwhile- picked up another 2100 yesterday, this one was an XP later model- was braked at some stage but is just a bare clutch cover now with the brake attachments. It got new rings and main seals last night- and a bath.

Did you even look at my profile before answering- USPS do not deliver here and although not quite deserted- our entire wee group of Islands has less of a population than many of your cities- I have faux bought your suggestion before I took on your bet. Cannot be landed here for $20 of my dollars.

Honestly- without checking, I do not know if they ran the same carb- might have- might not have- a lot can be done with jet sizes to feed bigger engines and larger bore venturi to flow more air/fuel mix- but same carb body size and basic function- so they may well use the same kit. We don't...

Every online saw place in little old New Zealand sells RB 15 carb kits and Mac's were never that popular here.

Stihl MS361 Rebuild - Need advice on parts

The thing with going cheap on the bay is- they (the sellers) get the stuff from someone even cheaper and add a mark up. Little bit of google work and you can find the same stuff from the more original supplier cheap as the bay sellers get it. It is still mediocre quality at best- but cheaper...
