Can't say I've ever seen that before lol, what kind of plug does that thing have in it, a standard plug? I've seen saws blow fire on start up, but never every time you throttle up lol
Do you need to run a different plug when going from a DCS6421 cat muffler to a DCS6400(1) non-cat? Or is there anything else I should know before swapping these out?

I've never swapped just yank that cat out the 6421 and mod the muffler to your liking I run Bosch number 7

It's for my Dad's saw and he doesn't want to ruin the cat muffler (just in case) so I'm going to buy an OEM 4060 non-cat version.

View attachment 934 Does anyone know if a square style muffler will fit on a DCS6421?
Im looking at part number 038 174 200

It appears the mounting holes are close minus that bottom bracket.
Yes itll fit but the hardware will be a bit different for the supports.. a ms461 muffler will also fit

You can make almost anything fit with a lil creativity and fabrication

What are we all going to do when the parts run out, especially for the more modern Makita / Dolmar
saws as there won't be many of those around for part saws. Makita are not making any more gas
powered saws from early next year, and I can not see them manufacturing parts for the ones we have,
when they run out that could be it.

Let's hope they get bought... maybe stihl should buy them then they would have some good quality stuff to work with hahah

A Stihlmar / Stilkita, that would be something, though I would hold back until they proved to
be as reliable as the Dolmar / Makita saws were.
I agree but they won't buy them... stihl thinks their saws throw gold instead of chips.... yes stihl has top notch saws but they also make *poop* tons of *poop* saws... disposable saws

Interesting thought though, would be nice to see a capable company buying them,
and keeping on producing, there are a few saw models using their engines anyway,
maybe one of them will take over.
But, the scarcity of parts is already hitting, that makes me think Makita are emptying
their shelves with the intention of pulling the plug rather than selling the business off
as a going concern.

I know that some companies had shown some interest in taking the reigns of such a legendary brand.... it could make poulan good again....hahah

Lots of Dolkita saws still available online , also Mikita parts available for at least 10 yrs . I would not rule out a outdoor equipment manufacturer taking over the gas product line within the next year !

I have still some stash of new DOLMAR spareparts (low time in stock, but hey they are the real stuff!) .
PM me with some DOLMAR part numbers, I might have something you need.
Ex-DOLMAR dealer in Singapore.:giggle:
