    Head Orientation

I was wondering about that axe the first time that I saw it. What was the orientation at the time?

Smaller opening goes DOWN and larger goes UP. That way the wedge spreads the handle and keeps the head on. Hope that helps.

And remember, HP is a calculated measurement in relation to the MEASURED torque & RPM. I forget EXACTLY how to calculate it, but it’s amazing that we can get the ponies from a saw (and torque) that we do.

@Ronie if you were to put a saw on that dyno while having an adjustable exhaust outlet then you would be able to see the difference that outlet sizes make a difference WHILE YOU CHANGE THEM. Sorry, I really don’t intended to yell, just emphasize.

Have you ever heard of the spaghetti noodle trick? Take the dry noodles and fill the outlet on the cylinder or gasket or muffler inlet. Now for the math. Get between 60-75% of them and that will give you the idea for an outlet for whatever muffler you’ll be using. Multiple outlets are a leeetle...

Well, my mod was lots more simple. I took my 372xt jungle muff and enlarged the outlet to approximately 13/16”. Wow, did THAT THING CAME ALIVE! I couldn’t believe what that simple mod did. Like going to a 90ishcc saw. I wa impressed with my simple little modification. Easy-pezy.

Alright guys, on my 365xt Husqvarna I run a 20” Stihl bar & 3/8 x .063 Stihl RS full comp on & a similar setup on my 372xt but 28”. Occasionally on the 372 I’ll run a 32” with a Stihl bar but full-skip & RSF. I tried full-comp on the 32 but the saw didn’t have quite enough giddy-up to run it for...

    Mac 1-43 carb setting

Just tune it by ear & don’t worry about any “factory” settings, because by ear is THE way to do it. If you’re trying to get it started, 1 & 1/8 for both H & L. Good general places to start. Get it fired up & proceed from there. And don’t worry, getting everything set well is a dance of sorts...

Who uses Stihls 2 in 1?

After After a while you get fairly good at going at it in less than ideal areas. Just got to keep after it, but then again, I just file with one hand 🤨 I know that my way is NOT normal, but after all my trying to do it the “correct” way I continually foul it up. But then again, I keep “trying...

To plug or not to plug…

In “theory” the smaller displacement an engine is the less a decomp will bleed off. So if you go by that same idea I’d pick one up for a VERY small saw. IDK what the smallest cc saw with a decomp that you’ll even find is 🤷 Whatever & however you end up, guluck (slowly pronounce) 👌

    Y'all got an introduction thread?

Don’t worry, because like almost everything else in life “persistence is its own reward”.🤦🏻That’s how it feels sometimes about MANY things in life like some of the stuff that I can think of putting up on here that should be restricted, so I’m responsible enough to not do it. I’D LIKE TO, but I’m...

Make sure that you use anti seize on the threads but a star type of lock washer. You DON’T want any bolts vibrating loose where they end up in some sort of alloys or aluminum. It wallows out the threads 😖😬 and THAT leads to a much more expensive repair.

No I have not, just running my file parallel to the witness mark and at the same time I make sure that the edge of the cutter tooth remains parallel to the witness mark. I just go easy and not really hard & remember to change out the file anytime I get persistent difficulties in it. After all...
