    Cylinder Base Sealants

I typically use motoseal for the same reason, have used the motorcycle branded sealants before as well.

    2001 385xp rebuild

Carb being off won't make any difference, if it fell down pretty quick though isn't a good sign.

Verify your gauge on a running saw and make sure decomp is off. I see lots of folks with gauges not reading correctly

    500i Air Filtering deficiency

No air injection on the 500i makes them subject to these kinds of failures more often than other models. There are some pretty good options for aftermarket solutions though, the ones I've seen so far are out of australia as this problem is likely more prevalent there given the nature of the...

You don't actually need either one of the nipples on the air horn, the actual vent is in the tank. That's all EPA stuff.

Oh I see now, didn't look that closely. You can JB weld those holes up and try it again. The one with the sintered metal on the back side of the filter holder is for the vent. Don't recall the other one having anything hooked to it. Does it go through?

That's the best thing to do. Take pictures, make notes, mark things, whatever it takes for you. Once you have accessed the lever, you literally just bend it to desired height. I can take some pictures of one set correctly for you if needed.

They run on the ragged edge of being lean, for emissions reasons I'm sure. Well, there are easier saws to pull the carbs off of but all in all if you are mechanical at all it shouldn't be a problem for you.

Multiple holes under the welch plug is normal, at least on any carb I've ever popped the welch plug out of has had multiple holes.

I've never had any issues with getting the AT to compensate on them. These saws need all the help they can get to run cooler and the muffler is a big place that keeps heat from getting out. I've done the mufflers different ways but if I was to do one today it would be to start from the engine...

Your cylinder doesn't have a boss cast into for drilling to add a decomp. You'd have to switch to a 288 cylinder then drill a hole in the top cover. Or if you were willing to sacrifice a little performance, you could shim the cylinder and increase the squish to lower the compression.

    Poulan/Poulan Pro Chainsaw Thread

Tap to the next size, install a thread repair insert of your liking, have it welded in and drill/tap it. Any of those are solid repairs.

    3120 Scuff

Haven't heard of any 3120's with factory backwards pistons, but there were lots of 390's that made it out that way. It's absolutely backwards though.

    3120 Scuff

Piston is in backwards. How it hasn't snagged a ring yet, is incredible. Chamfering must be really good on that cylinder.

    Echo 4910

The tensioner holes needed a little filing if I recall correctly. They're really close to fitting. On some of the k041 to k095 conversions you have to grind the groove to connect it to the tensioner holes. Don't believe the 4910 oils through the unused tensioner hole though so probably won't...
