I will kick it of perhaps?
Hi, I'm Bob.
I live down at the bottom of a strip of volcanos in the deep South Pacific- next stop Antarctica. I am in my 50's, been there and done that in life, some I am proud of- some I am not.
I have fads, done the trout fly fishing rod and reel thing, still doing the land Rover thing and although chainsaws have always been part of my life- way back in the 1980's and 90's they were a very important part of life- it is only in the past decade or so I have started gathering and repairing what I might call nostalgic saws.
Over here in New Zealand, the population is small, but per head of population, saw ownership is high, so there are plenty of old saws to go around. I had to sell my original Jonsered 2094 to raise the deposit for a house back in the day and have within the past year just found a replacement- that was a very satisfying day. The rest of my personal "collection" are of models that were of notoriety to me or others I knew as I grew older, although I am yet to build a good 064.
Love the late 1900's era Jonsereds- even the horrid wee Partner clone 2137's, but the 2159 holds a special place for me. Much more of a 2 series Husqvarna fan than a 3 series one. Like the early MS mid to large Stihls until you hit the ones starting with a 6, then I take a step back to the previous models that started without an MS, without flippy caps and a 0 before the 6's.
Have always tinkered with saw repair, it is a Kiwi tradition to not pay others to fix stuff for you. Have learned by mistakes made- and believe me I made most of them along the way, with some of them being costly learning experiences! I fix saws for myself and for others, capable of ground up rebuilds- as long as it is not too modern. I hand round file chain- don't own a grinder, never seen the need. I also sharpen chains for other people- but try not to say yes to that too often!
We are not big on saw porting and improvement over here- you need a higher performing saw- you go find or buy a bigger saw!
Been married- less said about that the better. Not sure who will end up with a heap of old saws when I go- buried my only Son 5 years back when he was 23.
Currently partnered with a beautiful lady from Northern Ireland- my saving grace and love of my life- right up there with the 2094!
I manage a 600 acre farm, operate a tree trimmer/hedgerow cutter based on a John Deere 7510 and keep bees. Mainly a firewood hack now, although still climb the odd tree for takedowns, not surgery and beautification and fall the odd big tree others will walk away from, or for people not confident to do it, or don't have the gear to do it safely.
Cut mainly softwoods, large growth- Pinus Radiata, Ponderosa etc- Cypress species, Spruces- but we also have a lot of introduced species of Eucalyptus that can get very hard and very big!
There is probably a lot more to me- but that is a rough introduction.

Just a little bit of background on me. I'm a retired machinist that helped design and make the machines that make tator tots and other fast food potato products. I have several hobbies besides the saws and that is model steam engines, not the train but the steam motors of the past.
I have always made things with my hands, never had enough money to buy much but made or fixed things i needed.
I got into the saws when I decided to fix my old poulan 3400 that had been sitting for many years. Long story short I got a parts saw and it was to good to take apart so I found another one and before I could stop i was on the way to a few more. Poulan saws are my favorite that came from the late 70s to 80s. Really like the big 85cc saws.

The only saws I actually collect are sand cast Poulans.

I’m a newly addict when it comes saws. Always loved saws and cutting wood. Dad was a faller when I was a kid, ran a jonsered 930 so jonsered have always been a favorite. Most saws we had were stihl. Learned to rebuild saws when I was 17. Was away from saws for quite some time after that. Fast forward to few years ago. I inherited 10 acres of farm / junk yard lol. Wood heat. Dad bought me a ms391 and ms 170. The 391 has been good to me but the 170 has fueled my saw addiction mainly because it sucked so bad! Was so hard to tune and start. Like 30 pulls or more! Always was way lean or too rich. That led me in to the world of mods and my research of such. Did the wt215 carb swap, muffler mod etc. Shortly after that I pulled out my blown up ms 361, full rebuild and then ported my first saw. I’d do a little then re assemble and run it. Then grind some more and repeat. Then I started digging through all the junk piles while cleaning the place and finding old saws or parts and put together and rebuilt an 034av then few 044’s. These just threw gas on the fire. Started working on friends and family saws. Last year I got the opportunity to buy out a small engine repair shop of all the chainsaw stuff and tools. Sadly the old man died and his daughter decided to retire the shop but good for me. So much nos 5B62D1BB-4147-41F9-9255-BC50F71DAA53.jpeg

shortly after I started Tongue powersaws. The addiction has grown exponentially. Good thing about running a saw business from home is the wife has no clue how many saws are mine 😝

From winnipeg manitoba Canada, been on here for a few days now after seeing Bayou saws talking about it on his recent video so jump in board like everyone else. Work full time like a mofo, have a small youtube channel on riding(atv) in my area and started recently with saw videos, been rebuilding on personal or friends saws as well as porting for the last year and half. Lmao I'm horrible at this stuff 😂🤟

Don’t worry, because like almost everything else in life “persistence is its own reward”.🤦🏻That’s how it feels sometimes about MANY things in life like some of the stuff that I can think of putting up on here that should be restricted, so I’m responsible enough to not do it. I’D LIKE TO, but I’m not going to do it!

Well I'll leave it at the saw side of things, not the normal program of atv and side by side ripping videos I create locally, red neck blowing stuff up but that's slowed down now with a family 👍

An almost Nova isn’t it?😁

They are good looking rigs alright! Dad had one before I was born (1971) and I remember him bringing it up in conversation with folks from time to time.

All forums threads EVENTUALLY lead to food. “They” say money makes the world go round, but I’ll argue. Even lower life forms gotta EAT. Kinda sums up the food part. The main difference is we know how to make it taste GOOOOD!!!
