At first in would start and idle just fine but would die while revving up. I figured the carburetor needed adjusting. Before I did that I checked a few things and found the air port on the gas cap was completely clogged. I fixed that issue and that allowed the engine to rev but as soon as I took my finger off the throttled it died. The research showed I needed to adjust the low carburetor adjustment screw slightly. Doing that made it run better at idle but I lost the ability to rev it up to operational speed it would only rev slightly. I returned the adjustment screw back to the position it was at thinking my ears may have decieved me about it running better. Here's where it gets weird for me and I can't wrap my head around it. I started the engine again forgetting the chain brake was off and the engine ran crazy fast with a lot of exhaust smoke and the chain moving of course. I applied the normal quick trigger pull to make it idle but that did't work it still ran crazy fast. I quickly engaged the chain brake for safety and the engine immediately started idling at the correct speed then engine stalled out. So strange to me. The next attempt to get it running correctly it died at the slightest pull of the throttle trigger. I'm pretty sure I should just replace the carburetor. Even so I'm still confused as to why the chain brake was the reason for the correct idle ?
