Recently picked up a couple of old 028's. One an old metal tank standard AVEQS and the other a SUPER variant with the plastic tank.
Just good old solid smaller mid range semi pro saws that are good old firewood plodders.
Have them to an acceptable stage now, running and a heck of a sight cleaner! Mufflers were soaked in homemade jungle juice style Evaporust and repainted with stove enamel. Had to make new fuel tank breathers for both- the originals were brittle in the tubing.
The standard AV model is still missing all the guts out of the chain brake- yet to be rectified.

Both are pre 1990 made in West Germany saws.

So does anyone else run these old dears still?
They are kind of bullet proof- just "interesting" in their design regarding the like of clutch removal. Not awe inspiring, but dependable- bit like a Blue Flame engine?

The Super came in a bunch of saws I collectively gathered with the help of three other like minded saw enthusiasts- out of the haul I ended up with Husqvarna 2101XP, 380CD and a couple of horrible wee 41's- Stihl 051, 038, 017 and the 028 Super- an Echo 660EVL.
The AV came up for sale online locally for $40 of ours- so maybe $20-25 of yours?

I got one used in the early 1990's and have cut many, many cords of wood with it. I still have it, but don't use it anymore, other than to start it up and let it run a couple times a year.
