Hi all,

I am trying to find out what year my dad's saw was made. I did email Husqvarna and they said it was a 2016, I'm sure it's older than that. They passed my request on to their team in Sweden, but I haven't heard back so hoping for help here.

And yes, sorry it's dirty but this question came to mind while we were using it!

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

EDIT: Husqvarna replied today and advised it's a 1981

I am not aware of all the facts- but I can tell you no way in hell a 162SE was made in 2016.
Now the fun bit- Silver tags- as far as I know, cannot be deciphered like the later black ID tags and the year, month and number off the line were used.
However, if you read your tags in layman's terms- looks a bit like the 822nd one for 1978 eh?

It all kind of fits for the vintage to around 1978 ish- chain brake type and adjusting screw- muffler style- 162SE was introduced in 1976- magnesium fuel tank- hell even the bar is period correct!
Be interesting to know if it is the single screw air filter?

There are possibly other hints towards a closer age with the rest of the tag, the years EMAB ELECTROLUX was used are post 78 I believe, before that they were Husqvarna Vapenfabrik and after 84?? they became Husqvarna Sweden

Thank you so much for your reply!

I'll check the air filter tomorrow.

I remember this saw as a child, but have no one left to ask about it's age, and hard to trust childhood memories.

I would have to go check to be sure- but a lot of major parts like starter cover, top engine cover are date stamped.
Have a look on the inside of such parts and see if you can find a circle with an arrow inside it- might need a magnifying glass or glasses to read it- but usually they contain a year and the arrow points to a month.
