Properly ported xp390, longest bar?

I have a new xp390, (ported by a reputable porter), first cuts put her into some dried 24" magnolia, was disappointing. Feels slightly stronger than my ported 372. I message the man who ported my 372(another reputable porter), claims hes re ported a pile of the other guys saws because their too tame.

I need a saw i can bury a 36 with, diagnals for face cuts when felling or blocking, and doing some rip cuts, and vertical cuts occasionally. My porter says it will handle a 36, tho idk how often he fells and such.

Will this saw run a 36 skip effeciently in these circumstances, with a good port job? Im reluctant to pay to have this thing re ported, if im gonna still hate it, and wish i had a 395.

It’s in your name. What you consider to be a reputable port guy may not build in a style that works for you but may be great for someone else. Also entirely possible that he’s well known in other circles for not making much extra hp, focusing more on torque and/or dependability. Need to ask around on more popular saw porting forums and talk with customers who have run saws from multiple builders and choose from that.

Lol, it feels that way too often.
Youve read my mind. Yeah the dudes supposed to be a legend, retired recently maybe. I assumed it was a mild build for longevity more than anything. Most you homies on these forums ive read up on, talk like the 390 isnt impressive stock, and can be a force if ported well. This one runs great, its just not impressive after running that 372, (which i wonder how long will last sometimes, being the amazing improvement in power its had after the work). I actually requested a build that would lean more towards torque, its a hot rod that cooks thru everything w a 28.(skip and long dogs). Tho my perspective is inexperienced, and possibly spoiled. Only two ported saws ive run.

The 36" tsumura and skip oregon full chis arrived in the mail for the 390 some days ago. I felled a 12" sycamore, cut the face wide and hinge strong to keep the stem connected to the stump. I dogged into the stump, rotating and burying the bar into the fallen stem,(so mostly a rip cut with a small bit of end grain from the stump). I did maybe 6 cuts like this, and it seemed to run almost easier than it did in the dry magnolia with a 28, which suprised me.
Despite being as exciting as an ms 290 farm boss, ima run it until it faces some real work, see how it manages.
