IMG_9685.jpeg Looking for opinions, how did I do here? Would I have been better off buying a straight shot or bark box? Saw tachs fast and runs good after removing limiter caps from the carb and giving it more fuel. Not my prettiest welds had a couple of burn-throughs.

If it works for you- it works for you.
Over here for what I do and species I cut- very real chance of setting the bark of most species smoldering.
Left unnoticed, very real chance of setting woodlot/forest on fire.

Its an issue when full bar cutting big logs and the muffler is near brushing the bark- worse with a dull chain and saw being forced.
I just run the stock Stihl dual port mufflers on these and 046/460 models- understand that might not be an easy option in the States- but there aftermarket dual port fronts available.

I haven’t had this saw do that yet, however I’ve had my 028 do it with the stock cover with just the baffle removed, strangely enough.
