I heard that this was made by poulan. Cant find a cross for it. Has spark but when I use starting fluid in the chamber it wont even pop. Any thoughts.

I believe the Craftsman saws of this era were made for Sears by Poulan as part of the Electrolux envelope.
They also built the small consumer saws for Jonsered and Husqvarna there.

You need spark, compression, correct air/fuel mix entering the combustion chamber and timing of that spark.
So all you have established is spark and tried a fuel the machine was never designed to run on.

First stop for me would be pulling the muffler and looking at the piston through the exhaust port- if its all scored up- it aint gunna run.
Next would be a dribble of mixed fuel down through the carb throat.
If it still wont fire, assuming a known good spark plug is in place- plug out, some straight oil down on top of the piston, swill it about add some fuel through the carb, plug back in and see if it will fire.
Check the flywheel has not shorn the key and moved on the crank.

I would also pressure and vacuum test for air leaks- but I have the tooling to do so.
