    Spark needs to be able to jump 1/4” gap. Using a spark plug isn’t the best way. A tester that you can adjust the gap is best

    it could be a bent ground strap that you didn't put back in when you rebuilt it.

    i didn't read the whole thread. is the coil grounded to the cylinder? the early 039 had this problem. the coil needs to be grounded to the cylinder because it's mounted to plastic.
