Why has .404 chain fallen from favour?

    I run the stock .404 on my old Pioneers . P-20 in 18 " Oregon bar & .404 .063 guage & 1/2 " pitch . 11-60 in 20 " Oregon bar & .404 .063 guage & 1/2 " pitch . All Carlton Chain . My current Milling MS660 runs 36 " & 48" Oregon Ripping chain full chisel in .404 .068 guage & standard 3/8 " pitch ...

Gas Husqvarna 450 weaker than battery 80v Kobalt chainsaw. Need recommendation for better chainsaw.

So , you intend to intentionally damage the chain & bar of the chainsaw , not to mention potentionally injure yourself or someone else by using a chainsaw improperly . However , do not have the resources to purchase a few xtra 20 volt , 40 volt or 60 volt or even 80 volt batteries for a more...

    Looking for input about milling

Actually "chainsaw mills" are old school technology much like your oldschool technology Chineese clones. However "they" have their nitche . All Commercial milling today is done with proper bandsaw mills or rotary blade mills . Much more efficient , cost effective & safe !

California bans small gas-powered engines ... including chainsaws wtf

Not opinion , but real world facts . I have two friends one a former Efco Dealer the 2nd an actual current Echo Dealer who barely is keeping his business liquid due to Echo's less than Stellar Distributor ethics & Manufacturer company line . All his former Commercial customers have left him...

Gas Husqvarna 450 weaker than battery 80v Kobalt chainsaw. Need recommendation for better chainsaw.

Excellent summary Bob , actually any Construction cut off saw with an appropriate abrasive carbide cutting wheel would be much more efficient & safe for such work , that routinely are used on demolition & fire rescue teams . Although , actually reciprocating saws with an appropriate blades...

Gas Husqvarna 450 weaker than battery 80v Kobalt chainsaw. Need recommendation for better chainsaw.

Yeah , the Echo models you provide are the most economical & performance for the dollar . Although not the proper tool for the application , at least the most cost effective lmao . P.S. a carbide tooth chain or "Mount St. Helen" style chain would survive the task best " not so sure about the bar...

Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf vs Husqvarna 460 Rancher

Most likely you will do well with the secondary Makita residual electrical volume . As for the Efco they had a few Professional grade models much like Husky & Stihl . Unfortunately even good products alone is not enough . Same with Echo , perhaps you can maintain a nitche in the local market at...

If your prudent , you will try to establish yourself with some form of relationship with Husquarna . Echo's party line via its distribution network is not much better than Efco . I have witnessed 1st hand Echo distributors hamstringing ethical dealerships on warranty work on numerous occasions ...

Gas Husqvarna 450 weaker than battery 80v Kobalt chainsaw. Need recommendation for better chainsaw.

A chainsaw is not designed to be efficiently or safely used to cut underground roots . An abrasive disc saw or reciprocating blade saw can be utilized better . A 12" root is best removed with a backhoe or excavator . Also a 450 Rancher is a 55 cc saw . The 590 Echo Timber Wolf is 60 cc class saw...

Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf vs Husqvarna 460 Rancher

That is the same factor that caused Efco to flounder within North America , Echo is doomed to follow the same path with its non existant Commercial following & ridiculas homeowner warranty policy & internal politics. Locally we have a fine Husquarna Dealership , very atune to customer needs ...

Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf vs Husqvarna 460 Rancher

Efco Dealers have closed up all over North America , once a proud Italian saw Manufacturer , bought out by an offshore party , running the business into the ground by mismanagement . Makita , like Solo just another orphan saw Manufacturer now . Actually , Shindawia was another quality saw line...

    Looking for input about milling

There are Husky 395 xp & MS660 all over North America milling hardwood . Peak horsepower overcomes torgue saws all day long in a milling application . Looking for input about milling

The tried and proven MS660 or Husquarna 395 or as suggested the older Stihl 090 or Husky 2100 are dependable & proven . Parts are available anywhere . Chinese offshore product is questionable & dubious in origin at best . Sale & distribution is often less than stellar or reliable . Hope this...

Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf vs Husqvarna 460 Rancher

Efco is a joke , sorry for you loss . Stihl is not much better , as is Echo's sham of a 5 yr warranty . There are Echo Dealers that make up for their less than Stellar Distributors , however don't hold your breath since most tow the Company line . Husquarna with its reduced model line has...

    Best 2stroke oil

Milling is the extreme within saw usage therefore 40:1 with Dominator or Interceptor or any other quality oil would be sufficient ! I ran Klotz Benol in an old MS-660 Milling for 10 yrs , decarbonized it every 100 hours & buck with it still today on occasion running Saber at 44:1 . ;)

I would ensure some due diligence is in place prior to getting into bed with Efco bud ! They have the most cut throat business practices of any current manufacturer . They don't t back their distributors & cut their dealerships throats . The worst warranty policy on record in the world , people...
