Hello everyone.
I’d like to learn more about selecting and maintaining lubricant for industrial gearboxes. How important are viscosity, operating temperature, load, gearbox design, and manufacturer specifications when choosing the correct oil?
Are there particular symptoms that indicate the lubricant is no longer performing properly?
I’m also wondering how often industrial gearbox oil should typically be changed in continuous-duty applications. Proper lubrication can also make a significant difference when avoiding premature industrial gearbox repair, since contaminated or incorrect oil can accelerate gear and bearing wear.
Would regular oil analysis be worthwhile for identifying contamination, wear particles, or other developing problems? I’d appreciate advice from anyone with experience managing gearbox lubrication programs and recommendations for maintaining lubricant properly.
