I'm in TN. You could try asking local tree removal companies if they could drop off good firewood logs at your place, that's what a lot of people try to do around here. Sometimes you get lucky and get a nice load of high quality logs. Otherwise people around here look on craigslist for free wood that people are trying to get rid of after having a tree cut down.
