I am in the midst of putting back together a Husqvarna 372xp. I am running into an issue with the gas tank vent located on the side of the gas tank, and the green fitting that goes into the vent. When I was pulling the saw apart to clean it (I have yet to do that it is dirty in the photos), I noticed that the green fitting was not firmly seating into the vent. After messing around with it, and assuming the parts were worn, and ordered a new green fitting, and a new vent. After the parts arrived in the mail I went to reassemble, and the same problem occurred; the new green fitting would not fit firmly into the new gas tank vent. Ruling out that the parts were worn, am I missing something else? It does not appear that there is any part of the saw that is meant to hold the two together, and I cannot imagine that they are meant to fit loosely, the green fitting simply falls out of the vent. If anyone has any experience with these parts and reassembling, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I would imagine that they are the same parts on the 390 and 395s as well.
