Hi,

Monty here, and as a new member I hope to gain some knowledge from all the current members that I have been following recently. My question is would a seal leak in a Stihl 032 AV cause a no start. I have good compression and spark as well as new carb and fuel lines. Even squirting a little fuel into the carb did nothing. I was told that leaking seals may be the problem but I would have thought it should at the very least make an attempt. Any Idea what may be the problem would be appreciated.

Thanks, Monty

A bad air leak- or several air leaks can stop a saw from firing up.
032 is getting up there age wise- if on original seals- maybe. Can suck air from anywhere there is a penetration into the cylinder or crankcase though- not just the main seals.
You have spark and fuel delivery seemingly sorted, maybe good compression as well- that leaves timing and the spark happening at the correct compression stroke to ignite compressed vapours- not ones being sucked through transfers or exhaust ports.

New plug and a few drops of fuel down the hatch should fire provided the spark is strong enough and is timed correctly. I have run into the situation where the spark was weak under operating conditions - verdict was a new coil
