Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

Very good Fabz. I didn't measure the rakers, but you can tell it bites hard. I have wondered if the is such a thing as being to fast when cutting. Is there a point of diminishing return. For some it's when the saw explodes.

Ah okay. I agree and I have noticed that others do that also. Many thanks. Clint

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

Thanks. Torque was my goal. I'm not a fan of over riving saws either. I was curious why you brought the subject up and watched the vid again. I didn't see where I really did that. With that aggressive chain I couldn't play with it when starting the cut.

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

It was a long time coming, but my first ported saw is finished and ready to go to the woods. I started the build and had to do a 180° turn around. What I was doing just wasn't giving the results that I wanted. I had a young guy step in that builds some great strong saws. He confirmed why I was...

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

I wouldn't dare put the numbers on here or any other forum. If I did I'd have 6 different people telling me what to do. I will put a 24 and 32 on it when the time comes.

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

Stihl 046 This is my second post about this saw. It's my first porting/building attempt. It has been a blessing for learning what not to do. I was going down the wrong road at first. Another saw builder stepped in and got me straight. I started with the stock piston and had piston slap. Then I...

    Two Dead Saws Resurrected - Husky's 44 and 50

This is what I like the most about the chainsaw hobby. Taking a dead saw and getting it to run and cut again. The wife doesn't understand, but puts up with my craziness. I'm working on more now. Thanks for lookin.

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

Understood. For now I'm pretty much sticking to the basics, but as I get better I will push them to see where it will go. It's only a chainsaw.

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

I'll have to admit you got my rusty gears to turning. I'm new to porting, but not shy to push the limits.

Ported Saws... Lets see your work fellas

I'll probably run a 20" on mine for a limbing saw. I bought the saw new in 1985 I think. The piston looks wonderful through the exhaust port. So we shall see.

I posted this in the Stihl thread before I knew about this thread. My first ported saw.

    Stihl Chainsaw Thread

First post on the forum. I'm liking what I'm seeing. I'm a saw builder in progress. I just ported my first saw, a 046 and I have most of the bugs worked out. I'll have a better chain on it today. I only have very dry Locust and White Oak to test it in for now. Here are two vids I've made of it...
