Update: I didn’t mess with the saw yesterday but today I came home pulled the air filter and spark plug and then blew compressed air into the cylinder and through the carb while holding the throttle open. Put plug back in and pulled the starter rope without the choke on and it tried to start...

Thanks for the advice. He is a very understanding guy so I know there won’t be any problems. He also knows that I take care things whether mine or his. I’ve been working for this man around 35 years.

So true Bob. It was actually borrowed from my boss, a really nice guy but I feel like I would like to return it in the same or better condition than when I got it. I am just hoping it is something simple that I could fix myself. I’m pretty mechanically inclined to fix things but the problem...

I borrowed a Stihl 44 magnum, been running it off and on for about three weeks now. I used it four or five days ago and shut it off upon finishing for the day. Now today I can’t get it to start. It keeps flooding. I checked for spark with a spark tester between the plug wire and the plug and it...

    Who wants a Chainsaw Giveaway?

I would love to have a backup saw or maybe put my current one as a backup.

Would it hurt anything to run a 40:1 mix in a saw that requires 50:1 or even mix the two together?

The saw I have in mind is an almost brand new Stihl. I have about 3/4 gallon of the 40:1 that I would like to use and then switch back to the 50:1.

Would it hurt anything to run a 40:1 mix in a saw that requires 50:1 or even mix the two together?

I didn’t see how it could hurt anything since I would actually be running a little bit more oil with the 40:1 giving my saw better lubrication and cooling.

Would it hurt to run a 40:1 mix in a saw that requires a 50:1 mix or even possibly mix them together?

    2 cycle premixed fuel

Yes, I still have saw. I actually find it hard to believe that it has low compression because I just put new piston, cylinder and ring on it. I’m just going by what a saw mechanic told me. I have only gotten it to start and run for a few seconds at a time, never long enough to even reset the...

    2 cycle premixed fuel

Yes, I have the premixed 40:1 left over because my other saw wasn’t worth fixing. It was low compression, wasn’t burnt up. I was tired of messing with it. It was an old cheap saw to start with. I’ve been wanting a Stihl for a long time and finally got me a new MS250 as a replacement as I seldom...

    2 cycle premixed fuel

I don’t know anything about the tuning of a chainsaw and I wouldn’t want to void the warranty by changing the tune of the saw.

    2 cycle premixed fuel

Anybody else have an opinion about this? I’m tempted to just try running the 40:1 without retuning because this is a brand new saw and is under warranty. Maybe even mixing some of the 40:1 with the 50:1, maybe about a half tank of each.

Thanks, that is what I thought but I wanted to make sure.

    2 cycle premixed fuel

I’m about to buy a new saw that uses 50:1 fuel mixture. I have about 3/4 gallon of 40:1 premix. Would it hurt anything running the 40:1 in a saw requiring 50:1? I don’t want to waste this stuff and I have no other 2 cycle equipment.

Thanks for all the replies. I’m about to trash this saw and buy me a Stihl MA250 or MS251. I really haven’t decided which one yet.

I replaced the cylinder, piston and ring due to misadjusting the carb and then I rebuilt it and put a new carb on just because it wasn’t running right before I burnt it up and then I replaced the coil because somehow I pulled it apart where it connected to the spark plug. Thanks for the info...

I have a Poulan Pro 4218 made byHusqvarna. I just rebuilt the saw putting everything new on it including cylinder, piston, ring, coil, spark plug and carb, fuel lines and primer bulb. . I can choke the saw and it will start and run for a second or so then die upon trying to restart on half or...
