Saw dies after idling after a while, often dies if given throttle. Sounds like misfiring, but it uses a m-tronic carburetor, which has no timing adjustment. Steps tried:
  • Checked Air filter and spark arrestor
  • Using canned premade mixed fuel from Stihl
  • replaced fuel filter
  • Replaced cylinder and piston
  • replaced spark plug
  • Rebuilt carb, replaced with similar model carb
Carburetor is zama c1q-s275, replaced with 276, as I couldn't find a reasonably priced 275...

(warning: loud volume)

When it comes to mtronic and autotune saws- I am a complete novice- but I imagine a carb swap without the associated electronics- or at least some kind of software update is never going to play nice together.
Other options are wiring integrity- or lack thereof. The recommended mtronic rest procedure been applied?

I'm afraid I don't know what the m-tronic rest procedure is... The thing is, it doesn't run any better or worse with the original carb... So the new carb might cause a new problem, but it's certainly not the only problem.

Ah, Google lists the m-tronic reset procedure, but I can't get it to run full throttle for thirty seconds in order to trigger the reset...
