Take the "H" screw down to 1 1/2 turns as well and try again.

    Husqvarna 555 autotune no spark.

The only way to just change a carb on one of these saws is to put one on with the exact model number. As updates happen and new versions replace old this will not work until it is taken to a dealer that can hook it up to their computer and give it the new parameters and updates to work with.

Stihl 460 stops after each cut

/\ This. If the relationship between the Lo speed and the Idle speed is off this can happen. It's when the throttle plate is closed off too tight and the Lo leaned out to compensate for the correct idle speed so as it does not have enough air to handle the sudden transition from wot to idle and...

Saw engine size in relation to bar length

That or as in this example where I ported a regular(open port, non-XP type) 268 Husqvarna and wanted t see what kind of pull it had. So I put a 32" B&C on it and went to noodling so it could get buried. I could not stuff that saw dogging in(it did get clogged up and that stopped it), just to...

Saw engine size in relation to bar length

@Bob Hedgecutter and @Norm you two have to have about the polar opposite in wood types that can be had, hard vs soft. Which probably enters somewhat into the equation. With having both hard and soft here I tend to follow Bob's original statement for this area. I do however like a 20 inch...

    Oil Leaking From Chain Plate?

Usually when the oil comes from behind the bar plate either the bar plate is out of shape or the bar pad itself is warped or both. the plate can be replaced, the bar pad can be checked with a straight edge and trued with either a large flat file or sandpaper on something good and flat like a...

    Stihl 046

Well, seeing as you had it that long I'd say for sure at minimum it could use a freshening with a rebuild kit, as the diaphragms can get hard, crack etc., as well as the inlet needle could fail letting too much fuel in. Yes, some vintage saws can have carb bodies that are warped and have a hard...

    Lathe pics and tricks.

Interesting how everyone finds their own way with what they have available to them. I too tired of the guessing game and scribed each plate with the models that would fit. Some as much as 8 different models with one plate. I like the universal idea too as even my plates don't hit everything...

Reminds me of a sausage grinding plate, which, who knows might actually work if the right size and holes are available... No sausage puns intended or implied.

    Lathe pics and tricks.

Here's pics of the mandrels and plates used by myself for turning cylinders on the lathe. This is by no means the only way, just the way I found for myself and my equipment. One thing about machining, the tool you need most is the tool that you make. Mandrels are turned to different sizes on...

Yes you can go too far and the seals will come in contact with the ball bearings inside the races. As well as if sticking out too far will come into interference with the flywheel and worm gear/clutch. If you take note of their position before you take them out you can then reinstall to the...

    Cuttin' Crooked

Check the left and right cutters for uniformity, even an adjustable(Crescent) wrench will get the job done if no other means are available to measure the tooth length. If they are off, using that 2 in 1 tool will cause the depth gauges to differ as well, compounding the problem, I would hazard...
