Thanks, Bob! I will definitely check the piston. I recently tore into a weedeater where that was the case. I might add that it is holding 75-80 lbs of compression. Will post findings in a few days.

I have an echo 440 evl for 30 plus years. Haven't ever replaced a single part on it. Question to everyone. A friend gave me a 290 evl that needs the plastic rope pulley drum that's been discontinued. Part #17721506530. Can't locate on eBay or amazon. Any suggestion or leads? Thanks!
